Terms of Service

By creating an account or using the Built for Devs platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

These terms apply to companies and organizations that access Built for Devs to measure developer time-to-value and purchase developer evaluations. If you are a developer participating in evaluations, please review the Developer Agreement.

By accepting these terms on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to this agreement.

Built for Devs is a developer evaluation platform that helps software companies understand how developers experience their tools, APIs, and documentation. The platform offers two core capabilities:

• Time-to-Value (TTV) tracking—a lightweight script you install on your developer-facing properties that measures how long it takes developers to reach their first meaningful outcome.
• Human evaluations—structured recorded sessions where independent developers evaluate your product and provide detailed qualitative findings.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@builtfor.dev if you believe your account has been compromised.

Each account may only represent one company or organization. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits or pricing tiers is not permitted.

You must provide accurate and complete information when registering and keep your account details up to date.

Installation

The Built for Devs tracking script collects behavioral data from developers who interact with your developer-facing properties—including documentation, API references, dashboards, and SDKs. You are responsible for installing the script correctly and ensuring it operates only on properties you own or have authority over.

Disclosure requirement

You must disclose the use of the Built for Devs tracking script in your own privacy policy and in any applicable cookie notices. You are responsible for obtaining any consents required by applicable law (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations) from the developers who interact with your properties.

Data ownership

Tracking data collected through your installation of the script is yours. Built for Devs stores and processes this data solely to provide the platform services described in these terms. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Data retention

We retain your tracking data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after termination as required for legal and operational purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Human evaluations are recorded sessions conducted by independent developers. Each evaluation produces a detailed findings report covering the developer experience of your product.

Evaluations are matched to developers who have no prior conflict of interest with your company. Built for Devs manages the matching, scheduling, and quality review process.

We do not guarantee specific outcomes, findings, or timelines for evaluations. Evaluations that do not meet our quality standards may be rejected without credit—in that case, we will notify you and work to schedule a replacement evaluation.

Findings reports are provided for your internal use only. You may not publicly attribute specific findings to individual developers.

Subscription plans

Built for Devs offers two subscription tiers:

• Free—$0/month. Includes TTV tracking with monthly data refresh.
• Pro—$99/month. Includes TTV tracking with daily data refresh and access to additional analytics.

Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly basis and are non-refundable except where required by law.

Evaluations

Each human evaluation is priced at $399. Payment is collected at the time of purchase. If an evaluation is rejected due to a developer quality issue (not a product issue), we will schedule a replacement at no additional charge.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for the amounts due. You agree to Stripe's terms of service as they apply to payment processing.

Failed payments

If a payment fails, we will notify you and may suspend access to paid features until payment is resolved. Accounts with outstanding balances may be terminated after reasonable notice.

You agree to use Built for Devs only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these terms. Specifically, you must not:

• Use the platform or evaluation findings to discriminate against, harass, or harm individual developers in any way
• Attempt to identify or de-anonymize the developers who participated in your evaluations
• Install the tracking script on properties you do not own or have authority over
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform beyond what is provided through normal use
• Use the platform to collect data on minors
• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the platform or its infrastructure
• Resell or sublicense access to the platform

Violation of these acceptable use requirements may result in immediate account termination without refund.

The Built for Devs platform, including its software, design, and methodology, is owned by Built for Devs and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

Evaluation findings reports are provided to you under a limited license for internal use within your organization. You retain ownership of any content you submit to the platform (such as product descriptions and configuration data).

By submitting content to the platform, you grant Built for Devs a non-exclusive license to use that content solely to provide the services described in these terms.

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the data it produces will be accurate or complete.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Built for Devs will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of revenue, loss of data, or business interruption, arising out of your use of the platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these terms will not exceed the amounts you paid to Built for Devs in the three months preceding the claim.

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. Closing your account does not entitle you to a refund of any subscription fees already paid.

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if continued access poses a risk to other users or the platform. We will provide notice where reasonably practicable.

Upon termination, your right to access the platform ends immediately. We will retain your data in accordance with our data retention policy and applicable law.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated terms on this page and update the effective date. For material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the platform after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the updated terms, you should close your account before the changes take effect.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these terms will be resolved in accordance with applicable United States law.
